Marrickville Print E-mail

The twinning agreement between the cities of Funchal and Marrickville was signed in the 1st of June of 1994.

Marrickville is a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Inner West region of Sydney, Australia. The area is roughly bounded by Parramatta Road to the north, the Princes Highway to the east, the Cooks River to the south, and Old Canterbury Road to the west.

The area is generally working class and also has a share of students, being relatively close to the University of Sydney. In recent decades Marrickville has received waves of immigrants to Australia. According to the council's website in 2005, "the area contains one of the highest percentages of artists, cultural workers and arts industries of any local government area in Australia."
